Ungok Wetland which is one of the Ramsar site in Republic of Korea was used for cultivation in the past and overtime the site was abandoned. However, since it was designated as a national geopark in 2017, there were constant effort to conservate the uniqe wetland ecosystem. In 2020, we decided to restore the abandoned site with wetland for the conservation of ecosystem. And installation of facilies for sustainable eco-tourism was also included in the project. We have aimed to enhence wetland water storage capacity so designed to expand the wetland size. The size of construction site is 4,900㎡ and it has started in 2021 also it is still on-going. These are likely the positive effects of enhancing the fuctionality of wetland and ecosystem service. Even though it may take some time to monitor the visible effects. The construction project will be completed in Dec. 2022. And the ecosystem monitoring will be started after the construction. We also keep watching the current status of wetland.

The chart below represents the relative disaggregation of the selected contribution's total potential opportunity for reducing global species extinction risk through taking actions to abate different threats to species within its boundaries. The percentages refer to the amount of the total opportunity that could potentially be achieved through abating that particular threat.
