Marine coastal Protected Area Hawaii- AUMH: management of natural resources.
Proportion of the area of the contribution comprising Key Biodiversity Areas: 88.9%
Management of natural resources including fauna and flora. Monitoring of birds, mammals and fish from the mangroves. Forestry monitoring of 5 species of mangroves through 13 "permanent monitoring plots 25mt2 (each)" representative of 2,108 ha of mangrove forest. Specific mangrove restoration actions like assisted reforestations, restore the hydric flow of small channels connected to stuarine lagoons. Marine fauna conservation projects: sea turttle population monitoring by counting tracks during the nesting season; management of two sea turtles hatcheries, attention to marine mammal strandings, humpbackwhales watching/monitoring during season (Dec-March); among others. Research with students from local universities.

Potential conservation benefits in saving biodiversity
Potential reduction of species extinction risk resulting from threat abatement actions
Absolute value (STAR)
0% of the total biodiversity conservation potential of Guatemala is covered by this project.
3% of The Americas's biodiversity conservation potential is from Guatemala.
45.4% of global biodiversity conservation potential is from The Americas.
The chart below represents the relative disaggregation of the selected contribution's total potential opportunity for reducing global species extinction risk through taking actions to abate different threats to species within its boundaries. The percentages refer to the amount of the total opportunity that could potentially be achieved through abating that particular threat.
