DOF – BirdLife Denmark is regionally organised in 12 local branches each with an independent board covering the complete territory of mainland Denmark DOF-BirdLife Denmark runs an economically independent Danish Bird Preservation Foundation (Fugleværnsfonden) that owns 18 bird reserves comprising totally app. 700 ha. The aims of Fugleværnsfonden are: - to protect the Danish birdlife by assisting in protection and creation of important bird localities, especially for threatened and vulnerable species, and to organise nature interpretation in the reserves of the Fugleværnsfonden - to support projects that contribute to preserve Danish breeding and migratory birds and their habitats during their stay outside Denmark.
