National Institute of Ecology
National Institute of Ecology (NIE) was established on October 28, 2013, in Seocheon-gun, as a government-affiliated institute under the Ministry of Environment, to provide all-around ecology related services including research, conservation, education, and exhibition. Now together with the Center for Endangered Species Restoration located in Yeongyang-gun and Wetlands Center in Changnyeong-gun, NIE leads the ecological research by carrying out a wide range of investigations, analysis, and assessments; provides support to establish national policies by engaging in various activities for conserving biodiversity and natural ecosystems, and managing wildlife. NIE also operates specialized facilities for exhibitions and education aiming to spread ecological insight through the expert training and education programs, eco-tourism projects, and book publication. Moreover, NIE values the regional and international cooperation with great efforts on various projects with local communities and international institutions.
